Problem

It has been identified that when trying to update the IRIS Practice Suite the installation will fail. On investigation of the DBCreate.log file the following error is apparent. Set_Simple_Recovery_Model 0 It has not been possible to set the current database to simple recovery model Login failed for user <><>$' NOTE: This problem is caused by an incorrect SQL Server Configuration and not the IRIS code.

Resolution

Following the steps below may help to resolve the issue. IMPORTANT: Serious problems might occur if you modify the SQL Server pemissions incorrectly. The problems might require that you reinstall the operating system. IRIS cannot guarantee that these problems can be resolved. Modify the SQL Server permissions at your own risk
  • Open Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio
  • Click Connect
  • Click + next to Security
  • Right-Click Logins
  • Click New Login
  • In the Login Name box enter the login name detailed in the error.
  • Click Server Roles
  • Tick the Box sysadmin
  • Click OK
  • Close all screens and retry the installation NOTE: IRIS cannot provide any further information on adding or amending user permissions with the SQL Server. Should additional assistance be required please contact your own IT Support provider.
