What is the difference between Non Accountable and Non Chargeable Time?

Resolution

What is Non Chargeable Time?

Non Chargeable time (Accountable Time) is factored into staff performance analysis, this means that is compared against chargeable time (time posted to clients) to calculate productivity figures. These are activities, usually office based, undertaken by staff during time that could be posted to clients. The following activities would fall into this category:

  • General Office Duties
  • Administration
  • Office Meetings

What is Non Accountable Time?

Non Accountable time is excluded from staff performance figures. These are activities undertaken during time that could not be spent on clients and would therefore be unfair to include in the performance analysis. The following activities would fall into this category:

  • Annual Holiday
  • Bank Holidays
  • Maternity Leave

How to Set up an activity as Non Chargeable or Non accountable?

  • Open IRIS Time | File | Non Charge | Activities
  • Highlight any activity and click on the view button
  • Place a tick in the “include in over/under recovery” option to make the activity Non Chargeable or Ensure that the “include in over/under recovery” option is Unticked to make the activity Non Accountable.
Note: This setting is taken into account at the point of posting time entries. Changes to this setting will not retrospectively affect previously posted time, and only effect future postings.
