IRIS Cascade summer update: what’s new?
Updated 2nd September 2024 | 2 min read Published 9th August 2024
Summer is here, the sun is shining (hopefully) and IRIS Cascade has had some more updates to expand and enhance the functionality!
In this blog, we've highlighted some of the recent updates, detailing the changes and what they mean for you.
Enhanced dashboard functionality
The team have been doing a lot of work these last few months, upgrading all the standard dashboards to resolve stylistic inconsistencies, further increase readability, improve usability and, ultimately, give them a fresher look and feel.
These dashboard changes have been implemented across a wide array of areas within IRIS Cascade, including HR, payroll, recruitment and training.
With these changes, we hope to give users not only a better functional experience but also make digesting all your people data far easier (especially useful when sharing dashboards with those across the business).
Absence screen improvements
The absence booking process is crucial for minimising disruption when staff take time off.
As such, there has been an ongoing program of work, looking to optimise the absence duration screen to help improve your data quality.
Previously, there was no validation on the absence booking screens, which meant users found a lot of tickets were being entered, absences were being overbooked and HR teams didn’t always have the necessary details.
The team have taken a holistic approach to improve the user experience and also the interface style.
A few of the changes include:
- Renaming the page to absence details to give a clearer purpose
- The title of the page now shows the name of the attendance category
- A working day column has been added, which gives information about the employee's working patterns, including start/end times, working day duration, AM/PM and non-working days
A lot of work has already gone into improving these screens, but the project will continue with further updates rolling out soon.
User experience (UX)
Whenever we update our software, the ultimate goal is to improve the user experience.
In the most recent update, IRIS Cascade has seen a few notable upgrades, including moving pagination from the client-side to server-side.
This means that instead of your computer doing all the work, dividing the long list of information into pages, IRIS Cascade now does that work on its own server before sending the information to your computer.
This results in faster load times, a smoother user experience and less strain on your computer's resources.
There have also been ongoing projects to improve performance and scalability.
A few key stand-outs in the recent update include tuning the timesheet integration and holiday pay integration to load lists quicker and allow larger volumes of data to be handled.
