1 in 10 people over 65 are still in work due to low pension incomes

The number of people over the age of 65 who are still in employment has hit one million for the first time, according to figures from Office of National Statistics (ONS).

The figures look at labour statistics for the three months running till the end of April and show that approximately 615,000 men and 388,000 women over the age of 65 are still working.

TPR could target entire industries with audits for auto enrolment compliance

As automatic enrolment is rolled out to more businesses The Pensions Regulator (TPR) will be targeting specific industry sectors with audits, Payroll World has revealed.

It has already been announced that TPR will be able to issue fines to companies failing to comply with auto enrolment and these fines can reach up to £10,000 a day for those showing “deliberate non-compliance” with the legislation.

Trouble with HMRC’s Basic PAYE Tool? We can help!

We mentioned in yesterday’s post that many businesses have been unable to file Real Time Information submissions with HMRC’s Basic PAYE Tool. According to HMRC this is due to a change in the software since their most recent update which they are investigating.
