Is your business optimistic about 2014?

Small businesses across the UK are increasingly optimistic for 2014, according to the Federation of Small Businesses’ (FSB) Small Business Index.

For the fourth consecutive quarter, the Small Business Index has seen confidence levels among SMEs increase year on year, rising 27.2 points from -5.6 in the last quarter of 2012 up to +21.6 in the last quarter of 2013. This increase was seen in every region of the UK and in every business sector.

The FSB report went on to show that this increased level of confidence meant that more businesses expected to see expansion in the next 12 months, with 23.1% listing capital investment intentions.

One in ten businesses reported running above capacity with a third running at full capacity. Both of these figures are the highest since the Small Business Index began.
